I never really dreamed of living in Singapore for good at first, err...okay, I never really thought of Singapore before. We were invited by Gil's friend to come and visit Singapore last Mach 2011, and it just so happened that Gil got a job in a week's time. Gil was hesitant at first because he always got the chance to be assigned in our Philippine company yearly to his dream land, Japan, but since I don't have business in Japan and that we couldn't be together most of the time, Singapore became the best choice for us where we could earn together and be together at the same time.
Two days after our wedding-in-a-bliss, we flew to Singapore and started our life anew. New name for me, new status, new location! Everything seems to be so beautiful and lovely. Gil moved out in his best friend's house right after he received his first pay and found our love nest along Sembawang Crescent, then our happy-ever-after story began.

Usual houses in Singapore are HDB flats and two to three families or couple living together in one flat is a common scenario. Why? HDB rentals would cost you a fortune, considering this is the cheapest accommodation available in Singapore. We rented a room with Filipina tenant and housemates (initially at around 23,000php/month excluding PUB)-can cook, can do laundry, with aircon and luckily for us, can accommodate visitors for as long as we want provided visitors will share the PUB (electricity, water & wifi). Note: usual room rental in Singapore dollar is $700-800 depending on location and owner's preference.
Our place is located walking distance from Sun Plaza mall and Sembawang MRT Station (Red Line). From the porch of our building is the kids' playground and the elderly fitness corner with complete exercise amenities for free use. Gil personally chose this place as this is only around 20-minute walk to his work. Very accessible!
This place has been the witness and home for us since day two of our married life. So even though I'm working at Jurong East which is nine stations away from Sembawang while Gil transferred his work to Joo Koon- the farthest and end point of Green Line (MRT), moving out is still not an option for now.
